About the author:

Dr. Zaheera Jina holds a PhD in Mathematics Education from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. She is also the co-editor and contributing author of the anthology titled: Riding the Samoosa Express: Personal Narratives of Marriage and Beyond. Zaheera is the founder of the Jozi's Books and Blogs Festivities (Jozisbbf), a non-profit organisation that projects to cultivate a culture of reading and writing in South Africa through various literary events. "Surprise!" is her first children's book and will be published by Djarabi Kitabs Publishing. DALLAS, TX-August 13th, 2017. DJARABI KITABS  has published a Muslim children's book by Author Susan Zainab Jones. It's titled 'Al-Khaliq (The Creator) and part of a series of unpublished books called 'Mommy Who Is Allah?' 

Book 1 of the “Mommy, Who Is Allah?” series focuses on the attribute of Allah, Al-Khaliq; The Creator. Throughout the story, children will learn that Allah has created all that exists. Join the main character AbdulRahman "Dahumie" as he discovers more on the 11th name and attribute of Allah. 

The inspiration to start the series 'Mommy Who Is Allah' came for her desire to educate her own children. In fact, Jones said, "...Mom creates that environment at home. So, I wanted to create a story that would fit our Islamic Aqeedah/doctrine while inspiring the love of Allah through a positive playful experience."

About Susan Zainab Jones:

Jones was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1969. She grew up in Houston, Texas, and converted to Islam in 1999. She studied the religion in Dubai, UAE, where she opened a bookstore, providing Islamic material in English. Jones is also an ESL instructor and taught English in the UAE and in KSA for almost 15 years. She enjoys writing poetry and informative Interfaith essays. “Mommy, Who Is Allah?” is her first children’s book series and Al-Khaliq (The Creator) is the first book in the series of 6 other books that are intended to inspire love and appreciation for Allah, The Creator.

‘When I Grow Up’ by Sundus Iraq

When I Grow Up by Sundus Iraq is a children’s book that has become my favorite! Why? Because it has Arabic writings. It’s perfect to instill the language to children. Arabic seeds indeed I’ll keep iA.

The Author Sundus Iraq is also the Illustrator. This preschooler’s book teaches our children to dare to dream to become or do anything they put their minds to.

The book is realistic because I remembered my son who doesn’t speak English yet wanting to be very independent and do the same we do.

For instance, he wants to drink in regular glasses and use normal spoons instead of children’s eating ware. I drew parallels with my son and the protagonist of When I Grow Upand smiled cheerfully.
